The Bombardier Global Express 5000 is capable of transporting up to 14 passengers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-37jpk7-5c5e7d690927ae553eb001303537ecde '  ><div class='avia_textblock' ><h2><span style=\"color: #daa520;\">History and Features<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-2j0v6r-a95e417f2e5d0e864728cc0a9195c283 '  ><div class='avia_textblock' ><blockquote>\n<p><span class='av_dropcap1 av-av_dropcap1-3cd9da5fea0ef5fb27aee617571c39a3'>T<\/span>he Global 5000 program was launched in February 2002 and took its maiden flight in March 2003 as the first true derivative of the Global Express which itself entered service in 1999. Transport Canada (TC) type certification was received in March 2004, European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) in July 2004 and the FAA in September 2004. The Global 5000 since entered service in April 2005.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Global 5000 can be easily recognized via its CRJ fuselage attached to a low swept supercritical wing with winglets. Featuring a swept T-tail and anhedral horizontal stabilizer, the 10 windows differentiates the Global 500 from is original Global Express and newer Global 6000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The aircraft has a large cabin, and a 6,000 nmi \/ 11,100\u00a0km range, it shares its fuselage cross section with the Canadair Regional Jet and Challenger 600 with a new wing and tail. The shorter range Global 5000 is slightly smaller and the Global 6000 is updated and has been modified for military missions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Global 5000 was announced on 25 October 2001 and launched on 5 February 2002 with letters of intent for 15 aircraft with<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It can carry between eight and 19 passengers, the new seat converts to a full berth; there is an optional private room aft and the galley has room to prepare 16 five-course meals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">At high-speed cruise, it burns 5,000\u00a0lb (2,300\u00a0kg) of fuel in the first hour, then 4,000\u00a0lb (1,800\u00a0kg) the second hour and 3,000\u00a0lb (1,400\u00a0kg) for the third hour.
