All screenshots. All claimed as own work. All look very old. Some images look a bit odd, making me question if they might have been altered.
Sources and dates needs to be indicated.

Keep He died in 1905, the images are from circa 1900. The documents are PD-ineligible. --RAN (talk) 03:22, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- Richard Arthur Norton, I still have concerns about the lack of a source. This wouldn't be the first time we are hosting an image of an incorrectly identified person. Without any kind of source none of this is verifiable. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 07:41, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- We welcome people to scan images from their own collections, and the images match ones we already have, or are at various other genealogy websites. You haven't presented any evidence that the images are incorrectly identified. For instance the image of John Rogers Thurston matches the one we already have. --RAN (talk) 14:12, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- Richard Arthur Norton,
We welcome people to scan images from their own collections
but we don't even know that. All we know is that these are screenshots. Screenshots of what? Nobody knows. I used Google reverse image search on File:Mother of John L Thurston.png and File:Lawrence with Brother.png, neither could be found. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 22:02, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- Richard Arthur Norton,
- Commons:Project scope/Precautionary principle requires "significant doubt", not just generalized FUD like "look a bit odd". --RAN (talk) 22:14, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- See Commons:Village pump#Unverifiable historical documents and photos for a broader discussion on the issue of unverifiable historical documents with these files as an example. - Alexis Jazz ping plz 06:22, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
Weak delete all. Adding sources is a requirement of policy COM:EVID. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 07:12, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Jeff,COM:EVID says that provenience is
typically
requiring a stated source and author to be specified. That is not prescribing the only and absolute way to provide evidence of PD. I'll add a comment on that take/reading of the policy on the village pump. --Enyavar (talk) 10:20, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Jeff,COM:EVID says that provenience is
Keep as per RAN: the age of these images should act as evidence of PD even if the source is not stated in some prescribed way. Deletion requests should be made when there is doubt or uncertainty about authenticity. With the files in question here, I have no doubts about them being from the dates that were claimed. The youngest person I checked died in 1958, but the image was supposedly from around 1900, and I checked multiple of the files which appear to be actually older. Material from the 19th century has entered PD by now. I'd not state that so lightly if this were material from the 1920s or later. --Enyavar (talk) 10:20, 13 May 2026 (UTC)- @Breamk@Ian (Wiki Ed)@Helaine (Wiki Ed)@Brianda (Wiki Ed).
